This was a part of my three-month solo trip, living out of my car and driving across the country, the west, and ultimately up into Canada and Alaska. 

I had just crossed the border of Texas into New Mexico. Considered by many to be one of the most boring stretches of road, I still felt excited. I was home, back in the West on my own terms. I pulled over into what happened to be a little, under loved state park in the middle of nowhere with magnificent dunes dotted with the state flower – the yucca.
